Shake It Up For a Major Change!
When the owners of this gorgeous home in Wildcat Run in southwest Florida called Spectacular Spaces, they said they were just looking for a few tweaks to their home. When it was built a few years ago, they used the services of a designer and created their near-perfect dream home that is a clever blend of Tuscan, contemporary, Florida traditional and it works beautifully. It is filled with great accessories and collections. The outdoors becomes part of the living area with an infinity pool and views of the most scenic parts of the golf course. But like all of us do with our homes, they were growing a little bored and just needed to shake things up a bit. That is where our popular service, Shake it up for a change, came in! It is great for those who do not need a total makeover. Just a few changes. Who couldn't use a stroll through our home with a decorator seeing it for the first time and ready to offer suggestions? -
New Sofa by Kravet
When the owners purchased this vacation home in southwest Florida, they knew they would eventually need to replace the sofa. Because of the open configaration of the room, they wanted to keep the same style so we went to Kravet and designed exactly what we needed. And some beautiful pillows. -
Condo Lanai Gets a Facelift
This condo in Bonita Bay has been lovingly cared for by its out of town owners who use it for weekend family getaways and golf vacations. It was time for a facelift to replace some problem tile so we were given the go-ahead to redo the entire lanai. The owner wanted it to reflect the feeling and colors of its southwest Florida location and to give it a beachy, whimsical look, keeping in mind that this enclosed space is used for dining and relaxing. What we did: Replaced square tile with Porcelain Wood plank tile (has the look of a hardwood floor in a beach cottage). Around the dining area, we designed a sea glass border of green and blue pastilles to pick up the tropical colors in the room. We painted Benjamin Moore "At Sea," #666. Furniture was reupholstered in Kravet Soleil fabrics. Table decor and centerpiece designed by Spectacular Spaces. The result: complete transformation! A beachouse feel that reflects the tropical colors of the area. Please click on photo to see "before" photo and additional views. -
Beach Cottage Porch
The small porch at this beachouse was great. The owners spent a lot of time here. It was pretty and functional. But small. Renovating the cottage offered an opportunity to expand this area to make it even more functional and roomy for having friends over. It also had to be simple and uncluttered. What we did: Expanded porch across back of the house to extend living area. Added French doors to open onto porch from master bedroom and kitchen. Added new table and chairs. Added two new fans. The result: Very livable and comfortable porch. This ourdoor space is like adding another living room and has completely opened up the flow of the cottage. Cottage Bathroom Makeover
The small master bath in this beach cottage was ready for a makeover to compliment the rest of the home renovation. For very little money, the result was a completly new look. What we did: painted walls Benjamin Moore Sweet Dreams (847). Installed a curved hotel shower curtain rod and white waffle curtain. Added new white hotel towels and white rug. Rearranged accessories and added new artwork. Removed outdated light fixture and replaced with new fixture from Lowes. Installed white blind. Above the towel rack, added a 100-year-old, antique medicine cabinet found by the owner at the antique market in Mt. Dora. After minor restoration, it is a great addition to this room. The result: a beautiful small bath where every square inch counts. -
Beach Cottage Living Room
An open, more loft look was the goal for this beach cottage living room. After 12 years, the owners wanted a more open and expanded space with their new kitchen as the focal point. They were willing to move walls and make small changes that wouldhave a big impact. What we did: Replaced carpet with hickory flooring. Added sisal rug under coffee table to pull seating area together. Replaced the turquoise walls with a beautiful Benjamin Moore Silver Satin (OC 26) giving the room an old Florida beachouse feel. Added crown molding. Replaced brown wood blinds with crisp white. Reupolstored chairs. Purchased a new couch with colorful throw pillows. Repainted shutters (found at flea market) cool and calm blue/greens. The result: Old Florida beachouse feel with an open and expanded living room. A new seating area for reading replaced the old kitchen and offers more living space. -
New and Expanded Kitchen
The owners of this home had outgrown this small but efficient galley kitchen. Looking for a way to create more space and to make it a more dramatic and focal point of the home, we reconfigured and expanded it in a new and larger space and gave it an industrial feel. What we did: Removed tile floor and installed hickory flooring.Utilized existing appliances which were very new. Incorporated existing cabinets and added additional ones to fit new design. Added new countertops. Added French doors which expanded area to open onto to screened porch. Designed a bar with stainless stools to match appliances. Designed stainless pot rack, freeing storage space. Added antique cabinet for accent piece and for additional storage. The result: A larger, functional kitchen that expands to the outdoor dining area and is a focal point of the home. Please click on photo to see "before" photo and additional views. -
Beach Cottage Bedroom
The bedroom in this cottage retreat was ready for a redo and because it is small, we looked for ways to expand the living area. What we did: Eliminated sliders and installed French doors that go out to an expanded screened porch surrounded by a palm forrest. Removed carpeting and installed hickory flooring. Changed wall color using Benjamin Moore Sweet Dreams (847) and trimmed in Benjamin Moore Super White. Removed brown wooden blinds and replaced with white blinds. Added new artwork, including a prized piece of driftwood found on the beach of this island getaway. The result: A new look without spending a fortune! Family Room (New Construction)
What we did: We started with a blank slate in this new home! Selected furniture, area rug, palm fan, accessories, designed pillows with fabric to pick up client's color request: Red. Painted accent wall. This room gets a lot of use because it overlooks a lanai with a pool and summer kitchen, so it was decorated for style and comfort. The result: Florida contemporary casual. Home Entryway (New construction)
What we did: Table, matching lamps, large mirror to reflect the landscaping. Because this home had just been completed, we had the luxury of creating new spaces, and wanted to pull the entry together as soon as possible. The result: welcome home! Please click on photo to see "before" view. -
Living Room (New Construction)
What we did: Palm fan, couch, two armless chairs, coffee table, end table with lamp, plant, accessories and artwork. Please click on photo to see "before" view. -
Dining Room (New Construction)
What we did: Focal point of this room is the Murano chandalier purchased by the homeowners during a visit to Italy. To compliment this element, we did a faux treatment on tray ceiling, wall sconces, table and chairs. Our goal was to keep this room spacious and uncluttered for entertaining.
