Color for 2011: Will you be in the pink?

Pretty in Pink?  Or Honeysuckle.

When Pantone sent out a press release announcing its beautiful Honeysuckle as the color for 2011, I thought.  Hmmm.  Hasn't pink been the hot color for the past couple of years? 

I have a pink purse, pink scarf, pink bandana, pink IPhone case, pink flip flops, pink carryon case and a pink tee shirt.  I love my OPI pink nail polished with great names such as Strawberry Margarita, I Think in Pink, Pink of Hearts, Shorts Story and Chapel of Love.  

Of course it has been around for a while but now it appears to be going mainstream in a BIG way.  There is even a Pantone Visa Platinum card in Honeysuckle!

Pantone calls this gorgeous color a "dynamic reddish pink, that is encouraging and uplifting.  It (Pantone says) elevates our psyche beyond escape, instilling the confidence, courage and spirit to meet exhaustive challenges that have become a part of everyday life."Courtesy of Pantone

Sounds like pink has an awesome responsibility!

What you need to know about pink:

It promotes a healthy glow and looks good on everyone. Male or female.

It works well day and night in women's clothing, makeup, men's ties.

It adds some punch to interior spaces.  Think pillows, accessories, small appliances.

If you are feeling brave and your house is seeming a little dull after the holidays, paint an accent wall for a burst of energy.  My favorite room to try completely in pink:  the closet.  Color:  Benjamin Moore's Pink Popsicle. Beautiful.Benjamin Moore Pink Popsicle.

Myself, I love this color (Honeysuckle) because it reminds me of spring and humming birds.  It is also an optimistic color.  Give it a try for 2011.
