New at West Elm: Fashion designer creates home interiors line

Photo: West ElmYou most likely know Allegra Hicks. Credited with re-inventing the kaftan, her signature product, she made it into a sexy, western garment to be worn at home, in the city and on the beach. Her new home collection reflects her bohemian eclectic lifestyle.  She is considered the “Queen of Kaftans” (Vogue).  What I think is most interesting about her personally is  that she grew up in Turin, Italy, in a glass house designed by her father and  inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright.Photo: Allegra Hicks

She has just teamed up with West Elm with a new line that is certain to be a win-win for southwest Florida's Coconut Point store. And offering some new options for decorating that reflects the Florida lifestyle. My favorite:  the palm pillow cover that is shown at the bottom of this blog.

Allegra's international luxury lifestyle brand featuring a ready to wear and beach wear collection, homeware and interiors, is headquartered in Belgravia, London. The various collections are built around Allegra’s distinctive prints and have a casual yet sophisticated theme, just like her celebrated personal style.

Be inspired by these great finds for spring! Warning: you will want (need) this day bed

There it was on the cover of the latest West Elm catalog.  With embroidered bolsters, a frayed-edge quilt and shams, this open latticework day bed just cries out, "buy me."  It is accented by a gorgeous chandelier of floating shells.  The chandalier also says, "buy me."

West Elm Day BedIt is beautiful, white, spring like and just screams relaxation on a porch or cozy nook.  I am searching for a place to put it in my own home and I am so far unsuccessful but I am working on it.  Meanwhile, I think the chandelier may more or less work in my guest bath!Capiz Chandelier

This and some of my my favorite new finds for spring are from West Elm.  It is no surprise.  Whenever I do a TV interview, I go to West Elm for inspiration on the latest and greatest finds.  This store can be counted on to always have fresh, contemporary choices that are new and affordable.   A piece can be blended easily no matter what your decorating style.  And there is an emphasis on organic and sustainable items that provide choices for us to consider when we make new purchases.  Check out the fresh summer colors, accessories for every room and an attractive line of eco furnishings.
